In cooperation with the Township of Langley, the ABSL works to raise funds to support the development of projects at the Derek Doubleday Arboretum. The park demonstrates sustainable horticulture and urban agriculture, and provides walking trails along Fraser Creek.

About Derek Doubleday

Derek Doubleday was a champion for the preservation of green space and the urban forest, he worked for the Township of Langley for 34 years. The land that the Arboretum resides on was dedicated to him in 2008 with the longterm goal of establishing a sustainable horticultural centre with a focus on stewardship of the local wetlands, sustainable horticulture, urban agriculture and aesthetic display..

Memorials at the Arboretum

The Derek Doubleday Arboretum is home to 3 war memorials, featured in this image is “A Walk to Remember” memorial erected by the Langley Youth for the Fallen. The memorial commemorate Canadians who lost their lives serving in the Canadian mission in Afghanistan 2002- 2011. 158 trees were planted at the Arboretum in honour of the 158 Canadians who lost their lives.
